FUNDINGBOX, a leading facilitator of European public funding for digital innovation, is seeking a self-motivated Freelance Application Writer to join our remote team and support our diverse workforce across Europe.

We are building a network of experienced professionals to collaborate with us during peak periods or when specific technological or sectoral expertise is required. Ideal candidates are passionate, proactive individuals with excellent interpersonal and writing skills, strong teamwork abilities, and proven experience in EU-funded projects—particularly under programs such as Horizon Europe(HORIZON), Digital Europe (DIGITAL), LIFE, Interreg, Erasmus+, EIC Accelerator, CEF, COSME, and EMFF. The goal is to write high-quality applications to be submitted to the EC-funded programs in various topics from diverse programs.

Key Responsibilities

• Write high-quality proposals for innovation-related EC-funded programs (Horizon Europe, Digital Europe, and others), working closely with our internal consultants.
• Gather and process inputs from project partners, including written contributions and background documentation.
• Define project implementation strategies, covering technical and commercial activities aimed at market uptake—including work package design, risk analysis, and budgeting.
• Manage and coordinate the full proposal submission process, ensuring quality and timely delivery in collaboration with our consultants.

Essential Requirements

• A Master’s degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in preparing proposals for EC-funded programs such as H2020, LIFE, Interreg, Erasmus+, EIC Accelerator, CEF, COSME, or EMFF. Please include details on your experience, specific programs, and success rates.
• Fluency in English with outstanding writing and communication skills.
• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities, with the capacity to meet tight deadlines.
• A combination of creativity, strategic thinking, and rigorous attention to detail.
• Proven ability to work independently and effectively in a remote setting using online collaboration tools.

Desirable Skills & Experience

• Track record of successful proposal submissions (references to submitted/ awarded projects will be requested).
• Experience in designing and/or implementing open innovation and SME-support initiatives (including cascade funding mechanisms).
• Background in managing EC-funded projects.
• Interest or knowledge in innovation management, digital transformation, and emerging technologies.

What We Offer

This is a fully remote position open to candidates based anywhere in Europe. We provide a flexible working schedule within an informal and collaborative work environment.

Contracting will be arranged through one of our legal entities in Spain, Poland, the Czech Republic, or Denmark.

Compensation is competitive and will be negotiated individually aligned with market standards.

Exceptional travel within Europe and Accession Countries may be required for meetings with project partners, but services are usually fully remote.

Key Responsibilities

• Work on a highly innovative project involving our client, one of the biggest global corporates, currently focusing on their sustainability strategy and performance
• Deliver quality research analysis, reports, presentations as response to the client’s ongoing projects and initiatives
• Attend the meetings (online) with the Client and third parties and contributing to discussion on global-level improvements, processes and business cases
• Prepare summary of meetings and documents, extracting key information and conclusions
• Support the project team in daily management of ad-hoc tasks (often involving online research and presentation of the findings as decks and/or excel files)
• Engage with the stakeholders acting around the Client
• Collaborate cross-functionally with IT, legal, communication, marketing, tech transfer, compliance, and admin teams
• Follow the work schedules, key performance indicators, and deliverables to deliver expected results before deadlines 

Essential Requirements

• An MBA/Engineering Masters/PhD degree plus
• At least 8 years of innovation-related experience within the field of sustainability, water engineering, chemistry, circular economy or similar
• Experience in preparing/executing international R&D projects
• Experience with project management tools and platforms such as Google Drive, Analytics, Data Management systems, and collaborative platforms like HubSpot and Basecamp
• Ability to create and deliver impactful executive presentations and reports, both in content and visual design, to effectively communicate ideas to high-level audiences
• Positive attitude, detail-oriented, customer-focused, with strong multitasking and organizational abilities
• Fluency in Spanish, English 
• Located in Galicia (Spain) OR North of Portugal – a must due to client’s location
• Ability to work reliably remotely and use online coordination tools.

 Nice to have

• Hands-on experience in managing complex, multi-stakeholder innovation projects in chemistry engineering and/or water-related technologies (i.e. water footprint, water waste, chemicals, etc.) 
• Experience in working with a multi-national corporate, with advanced model of supply chain management
• Proficiency in other languages
